Industrial Parks in Ha Nam Province Attract Investment
OVERVIEW OF HA NAM PROVINCE
Ha Nam is located in the southwest of the Red River Delta, within the Northern Key Economic Zone, and serves as the gateway to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Phu Ly City, the economic, political, and cultural center of Ha Nam, is expected to become a satellite city of Hanoi in the near future.
With its rich cultural and historical heritage and favorable natural conditions, Ha Nam has become a renowned destination for tourists. The province boasts 1,784 relics, including 551 communal houses, 490 pagodas, 306 temples, along with other structures such as shrines, steles, and ancestral halls. Among these, 85 relics are classified as national monuments, two are recognized as special national relics, and over 100 are listed as provincial relics. In 2020, Ha Nam ranked 44th in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), 23rd in per capita GRDP, and 6th in GRDP growth rate among Vietnamese provinces. The GRDP reached VND 44,613 billion (approximately USD 1.94 billion), with a per capita GRDP of VND 55.2 million (about USD 2,397), and a growth rate of 7.02%.

As of 2020, Ha Nam ranked 51st in population among Vietnamese provinces, with approximately 808,200 residents.
Transportation Infrastructure
Ha Nam boasts a comprehensive and convenient transportation network. It is located along the North-South railway and National Highway 1A, critical arteries of Vietnam’s transportation system, facilitating economic cooperation with other provinces, cities, and economic hubs, as well as access to seaports and airports.
Roads:
The province has major national highways, including National Highway 1A connecting Hanoi and Ninh Binh, National Highway 21A linking Phu Ly with Nam Dinh and Hoa Binh, and other significant routes like Highways 21B, 21C, 38, and 38B. The Cau Gie–Ninh Binh Expressway runs parallel to National Highway 1A. Provincial roads linking townships and industrial parks are predominantly asphalted, with a scale of 2–4 lanes, creating a robust road network that facilitates investment and industrial development.
Railways:
The North-South railway passes through Ha Nam, with four stations: Phu Ly, Dong Van, Thinh Chau, and Binh Luc.
Waterways:
Efforts have been made to enhance waterways, such as improving the lock system between the Chau and Day Rivers, facilitating smoother boat traffic connecting the Red River and other waterways.
2021 Economic Landscape
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Ha Nam achieved notable socio-economic results in 2021:
- GRDP Growth:85%, reaching VND 41,430.2 billion.
- Industry and Construction:Growth of 12.5%, contributing 8 percentage points to overall GRDP growth.
- Industrial Production Value:Estimated at VND 129 trillion, up 22.9% compared to 2020.
- State Budget Revenue:VND 5.79 trillion, an increase of 34.6% from 2020.
- Exports:USD 3.65 billion, growing by 40.3% compared to 2020.
- New Enterprises:643 newly registered enterprises with total capital of VND 10.125 trillion.
Industrial Parks in Ha Nam Province
By the end of 2021, Ha Nam had eight industrial parks with an occupancy rate of approximately 75%. These parks house 486 investment projects, including 298 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects and 188 domestic direct investment (DDI) projects. These projects have a total registered capital of USD 4.26 billion and VND 39.01 trillion.

- Employment:The number of workers in industrial parks increased by 14,497, reaching a total of 89,463 employees.
Development Plans for Industrial and Economic Zones
By 2025, Ha Nam aims to expand its industrial parks to cover 7,334 hectares and establish a 1,000-hectare high-tech park. This ambitious plan is expected to attract more investment, promote industrial growth, and create jobs for the local population.
