Overview of Yen Bai Province

Yen Bai is a mountainous province in the Northwest of Vietnam, home to 30 ethnic groups coexisting harmoniously. It holds a strategically significant position in the nation’s development and defense.

As the “gateway” to the Northwest, Yen Bai serves as a cultural crossroads between the Northeast and Northwest regions, characterized by a multi-ethnic cultural blend forming the radiant Red River civilization. Geographical Features

Yen Bai’s terrain rises from the Southeast to the Northwest, shaped by three major mountain ranges (all running Northwest-Southeast):

Hoang Lien Son-Pu Luong Range: Situated between the Red and Da Rivers.
Con Voi Ancient Mountain Range: Located between the Red and Chay Rivers.
Limestone Mountains: Found between the Chay and Lo Rivers.

Forestry and Agriculture

With 231,563.7 hectares of natural forest and 174,667.1 hectares of planted forest, the province has a significant wood production capacity of nearly 200,000 cubic meters annually. Key forest products include acacia, bodhi, and eucalyptus, along with over 120,000 tons of bamboo species like vầu and nứa.

Mineral Resources

Yen Bai boasts abundant mineral resources with 257 mines and deposits, including energy resources, industrial minerals, metals, and construction materials.
